What Would You Do If You Won the Lottery?

The Florida Powerball and Mega Millions are two of the state’s most popular lotteries, whose drawings for $322 million and $245 million took place on Tuesday, February 26 and Wednesday, February 27. The randomly selected jackpot numbers are based on paper slips that allow players to choose up to six numbers or have them assigned by their local lottery terminal.

With over 90 million individuals playing the lottery annually, there is a is 1 in 302 million of winning the Mega Million Jackpot payout, which is currently estimated to be $196.1 million, while the odds of winning the Powerball lottery, which is giving out $148.3 million is 1 in 292 million. To put it into perspective, the chances of being struck by lightning, killed by an asteroid impact, and even having conjoined twins are more likely than winning either lottery! Regardless of the unlikelihood, various students at John A. Ferguson have big plans when it comes to what they would do with their hypothetical lottery winnings.

Sophomore, Anthony Guerra,  states he would “pay for college fees”, which are notorious for being extremely expensive across the country.

Junior Kassandra Gonzalez-Xu said, “I would buy the McDonald’s near the school”.

Another Junior, Veronica Perez, admitted she would “travel around the world,”. With almost 200 countries to choose from, it will certainly be a tough decision choosing which she will travel to first.

Freshman Jason Acosta would “buy unlimited houses” as the more the merrier!

Bianca Salinas, a junior, said she would  “throw a huge party”, which would surely allow for hundreds to attend!

Regardless of spending one’s winnings on an extravagant mansion, traveling the world, donating it to charity, or any other bizarre luxuries, it doesn’t hurt to dream of winning such a huge sum of money!
