Exploring the Wild Side: Senior Picnic
On Thursday, November 21, the class of 2025 traded their classrooms for the great outdoors and headed over to Zoo Miami for a day filled with excitement, laughter, and unforgettable memories. The highly anticipated Senior Picnic brought everyone together for a day of fun and celebration as they embraced one of the most exciting senior activities.
Participation required seniors to be cleared beforehand, ensuring that everyone could enjoy the event worry-free. Upon arrival, seniors were directed straight to the picnic area, which had plenty of activities to enjoy. Bouncy houses took center stage, drawing seniors eager to compete and have fun with friends. The Knockout bouncy house brought a competitive aspect to the picnic, along with the parkour-themed bouncy house, where students were allowed to race against their friends.
“Senior picnic was our first senior event of the year, and it couldn’t have gone any better. I had so much fun with my friends and seeing all the animals.” Caroline Borroto, adds
Students explored Zoo Miami, taking in the sights and sounds of all the animals. One of the most exciting experiences was the giraffe feeding. Seniors lined up to offer the giraffes lettuce, interacting and taking pictures with the friendly giants.
Elkin Corzo, shares “I had so much fun feeding the giraffes, I had to do it twice.”
From the hungry giraffes eagerly reaching for lettuce, to the playful, mischievous monkeys swinging through the trees, Zoo Miami had something for everyone to see and do. Groups of friends strolled through the exhibits, snapping photos and enjoying the scenery. Seniors were captivated by the majestic tigers prowling their enclosures, the huge elephants gracefully roaming, the mud-bathing rhinos, and the beautiful zebras.
“I really loved the Senior Picnic. My favorite things were the bouncy houses, especially the ones that would spin. I also loved seeing the otters.” exclaimed, Genesis Arauz.
Seniors also had the chance to make the day even more special by designing their custom shirts to represent their friend groups. It was a creative way for students to express their bonds and show off their school spirits with a personal touch.
The food was another highlight of the day. A classic picnic spread of burgers, hotdogs, chips, drinks, and snacks provided the perfect fuel for all the action. Seniors gathered at tables to enjoy their meals, sharing laughs and making memories in the shaded picnic area.
As the day came to a close, seniors left Zoo Miami with full hearts and lasting memories. Senior Picnic was not just a day to relax and have fun, but a change to celebrate the friendships, experiences, and moments that have defined their high school years.
