‘Super Mario Galaxy’: Diving Into A Starry New Adventure
Mario and Luigi have once again leapt up from the Warp Pipes and into our screens in the new and fresh Super Mario Galaxy movie. Launching into the events right after the first film, Bowser, the iconic gigantic and malicious Koopa turtle from the Super Mario games, have now shrunk and are trapped in a castle after Mario and Luigi captured him in the previous movie’s events.
This film follows Mario and Luigi as they take on a new threat from Bowser’s son, Bowser Junior, who captures Rosalina to harness her power to try and save his father. The best part is that new faces straight from the arcade come back to play. Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad from the first film, are joined by familiar faces such as Princess Rosalina, Yoshi, and the infamous Bowser Junior as they come to take their place in the expanding universe of the Super Mario movie franchise.
New characters are not the only fresh thing happening in this movie, There is also a brand new handful of talented voice actors joining the original cast. Back in 2023, The Super Mario Bros movie introduced a diverse cast, with renowned actor Chris Pratt playing Mario, Anya Taylor- Joy as Princess Peach and many other brilliant cast members joining the movie. Flash forwarding to the present, the new cast of voice actors include Brie Larson taking on the role of Rosalina, Benny Safdie as the dedicated Bowser Jr., Donald Glover as the iconic Yoshi, and many more who helped bring the spark back to this franchise.
After the movie premiered, critics blew fire for its “pinball game” pacing and “shallow” storytelling. Audiences felt as if they hit a Question Box and obtained a Superstar of a movie with the vivid animation and fast paced plot. Overall, while the pace of the Super Mario Galaxy movie seemed like it was on a powered-up treadmill, the pacing of the film reflected the fast-paced nature of the games perfectly. Regarding the animation of the production, it seemed as if Mario and his crew came to life in a cyclone swirl of colors when they flashed across our television. If the first movie enchanted you and stunned you into silence, this new and upgraded movie will for sure be something you wouldn’t want to miss.
