Another Spectacular Night at the Met Gala

The Met Gala is one, if not, fashion’s biggest night. It takes place on the first Monday of May every year, and audiences are always looking out to see who is best dressed

The Met Gala was organized back in 1948 to collect donations. It was always seen as a more low-profile event, but that all ended under Anna Wintour’s wing.

The themes are one of the things that make the event. ‘’Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’’ was one of the more controversial but overall loved themes in Met Gala history. The outfits were beautiful, but it received backlash for the Catholic aspect. Although the theme this year was very inclusive, it still received backlash, just like every theme has. Critics online have said that the Met Gala themes include cultural appropriation and favoring people with more wealth. This year’s theme was ‘’Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’’ and it paid homage to black designers.

The outfits did not disappoint this year, with some fan favorites being the looks of Jenna Ortega, Zendaya, and Teyana Taylor. Jenna rocked a tape measure-inspired look while Zendaya wore a tailored white suit and hat. However, Teyana Taylor blew the theme out of the water. She wore a burgundy pin-striped suit with a cape, and along with that, she paired the outfit with a scepter and du-rag, paying her respects to the classic symbols of black culture.

Audiences also favored A$AP Rocky’s look, who was one of the co-chairs of this year’s Gala. He wore a dapper black suit with Bulgari jewelry, a simple but effective outfit. Rihanna also announced that she and A$AP were expecting their third child together, creating more buzz surrounding the event.

All in all, the Met Gala this year was another unforgettable one, despite disappointment from fans that their favorite celebrities were missing in attendance, for example, Ariana Grande, Naomi Campbell, and Taylor Swift.
