Falcons Swoop Down on Goleman Gators

Following a two-game winning streak, the Girl’s Basketball team soared into The Cage on Friday, January 31st with nothing but determination. Playing against the Goleman Gators, the Falcons added a third game to their streak with a final score of 67-31, leaving the audience roaring with excitement. 

“Even though the score doesn’t show it, Goleman gave us a good competition and we were fighting every play.” Junior Tiffany Galera, Small Forward, says. “I’m proud of my team and we are looking forward to the next game.”

Simultaneously, the girls celebrated their annual Senior Night, which honors the hard work of their senior players throughout their seasons. With the Gators putting up a strong fight, the crowd was left on the edge of their seats, buzzing with anxiety and excitement.

The Gator’s resolve was no match to the Falcons. The girls worked in harmony to keep their momentum, using a strong defense and offense strategy to keep themselves in the lead. They were inspired by the crowd, using that support to fuel their passion. 

“Overall we played great, the defense was consistent, and the offense ran up the score.”  Senior Sophia Diaz, Shooting Guard, states. “I’m very proud of my teammates, especially the underclassmen who went in later in the game. We gained confidence and we are ready to get the win against the Gators.”

With their streak moving up to three, they are now holding their heads high heading into the next game. Go out and support them against Coral Gables in the cage on Thursday, February 6th.
