Girls Softball Match Against South Dade

The Girls Varsity Softball Team took on South Dade on Monday, April 27th for the first playoff of the season. Coming in fresh from their previous victory against South Dade, The Girls Varsity Softball team came in with their heads hung high after a restful weekend.

The game begun, with Ferguson keeping their own at the start of the game. Winning
two previous games, the Ferguson Softball team were confident in their abilities to win
against South Dade. However, after in their previous victory the team hit at the pitcher
many times and successfully won the game. Once this game came around, the pitcher
couldn’t hit the ball, which was a major contribution to the final score. As the game
neared the end, there were constant disagreements among the girls on the Ferguson
team, which in the end led to the final score of 13-17, with Ferguson holding the loss on
their backs.

After the game ended, there were mixed opinions on the game. The coach of the
Ferguson Softball team, Coach De Leon, stated that although the game didn’t go as
planned, there were good moments sprinkled in the game such as the bases being
loaded and the best hitter on team striking out and playing in the game. The coach
believed that the girls could have won the game if they practiced over the weekend and
weren’t as “comfortable” as they were during the game.

”Never get comfortable in sports.” Coach Leon commented on the game.
Coach wasn’t the only person to comment on the game. Softball player Lily Beradinelli,
10 th grade, who participated in the game also has her views on the game.
“It was an intense game. We started good and then towards the end people started
arguing and it eventually got to us, causing us to lose but I found it to be a good game.”
Lily Berardinelli said.

This may have been the playoffs, but there is always a chance to come back next
season stronger and more prepared.
