After thirty-one years of working for the school district, our assistant principal, Stanley Thompkins is retiring from the school system. Mr. Thompkins’ is very excited to go back to his true passion which is business.

He is retiring after all the hard work he has put into the school system. He has very much enjoyed working for the school district, especially being assistant principal at John A. Ferguson.

Having been a coach for many teams and having been helping students for most of his life, he says, “The most memorable thing about this job would definitely be seeing the students evolve as humans and knowing we’re the ones helping.” While he’s enjoyed his career, he’s ready for a career change into something that’s more up his alley.

Originally, he was interested in business but a good friend of his convinced him to go into the teaching field. His friend was also part of the school system and has long been retired from his hard work. He says he won’t miss much of the school because he rather just remember the wonderful memories than miss anything.

After Mr. Tompkins leaves the school he plans on returning to a passion he had once left behind, business. And now he’s going to go into financial management for a new company. Mr. Thompkins’ most memorable moment is being able to talk and spend time with John A. Ferguson himself. Ferguson was a reverend whom the school is named after. Thompkins will never forget the good memories he spent with Mr. Ferguson or all the students’ lives he will forever have impacted. While he’s leaving us, he is very excited to start his new career.
