Welcome Back, Falcons!
The Talon newspaper staff welcomes new beginnings and the start of the 2019-2020 school year. As we embark into a year full of opportunities, The Talon’s staff once again assumes the responsibility of being a credible and accessible news source for the entire population of John A. Ferguson to keep students and staff informed so that we may all achieve our goals this year. We wish our students and faculty a successful and productive school year and we can’t wait to get to work on providing you with the information necessary to have the best school year possible.
Under new leadership, The Talon has some exciting developments for this coming school year! We are very excited to announce that starting in November, we will be launching a new section of our online newspaper: Op-Eds. Every Op-Ed will be vetted for its credibility and the content of its commentary will be held to the highest of journalistic standards. The introduction of our Op-Ed section is a huge step forward for student journalism, as our writers can now use the paper to amplify their perspective on issues that are important to them.
Our staff is prepared to inform our readers about current events that happen locally, and worldwide. You can expect regularly posted articles on topics relating to Ferguson student life, sports, entertainment, and breaking news year-round. We plan to increase our coverage more than ever before in order to continue to inform our readers on any topics that interest them, whether it be school spirit or the latest news to break the world stage. We welcome all of our first-year staffers and we can’t wait to show our readers their ever-growing talent!
Our journalism program is fiercely driven by our ‘students, for students’ mission. We are always looking for more writers, photographers, and social media representatives. If any of these positions sound interesting to you, it’s not too late! Email us at fergusontalonnews@gmail.com for more information.
