2019 Emmys Winners List
The Emmy Awards was founded by Sid Cassyd and first took place on January 25, 1949, at the Hollywood Athletic Club, hosted by Walter O’ Keefe. It aired locally in the Los Angeles, CA area and broadcasted on a local station, KTSL. They gave out 6 awards for their first award show that will soon be very well known.
This year’s Emmy Awards gave out 36 awards, which is a big difference to the first Emmy Awards. This year, the Emmys didn’t have a host, which had mixed feedback because it was the first time in 30 years that this happened. It also didn’t feature an opening monologue, but the producer, Charlie Haykel teased that he will use the extra time to honor some shows that ended this year.
The Outstanding Drama Award was won by Game of Thrones, Billy Porter and Jodie Comer taking the lead trophies. The Outstanding Comedy Series was won by Fleabag. The Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series was won by Jodie Comer in Killing Eve. The Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series was won by Billy Porter in Pose. The Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series was won by Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Fleabag. The Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series was won by Bill Hader in Barry.
