2021 Emmys Winners List
The 73rd annual Emmy Awards were hosted live on September 19, 2021, after being presented virtually the previous year. Spotlighting exemplary actors for their performances, the Emmy Awards Ceremony is one of the most eminent ceremonies in the film industry. This year the award ceremony took place in the L.A. Live Entertainment Complex, rather than the Microsoft Theatre, which has hosted the Emmys since 2008.
The Emmy Awards were founded by Sid Cassyd, and the 1st Primetime Emmy Awards traces back to January 25, 1949, where Walter O’Keefe hosted the first of many more to come. Ever since then, many television personalities have taken part in hosting the renowned event. American actor and standup comedian, Cedric the Entertainer, hosted this year’s ceremony alongside Taraji P. Henson, Dolly Parton, Sarah Paulson, and several other influential figures who presented the awards.
With a broad range of awards, and an abundance of brilliant actors, this year’s Emmys were certainly one to remember. Host, Cedric the Entertainer, kicked off the night with a song to the tune of Biz Markie’s “Just A Friend,” which got everyone on their feet and singing along. In this year’s Emmy Awards Ceremony, RuPaul received his 11th Emmy and set the record of most Emmy wins by a black artist. Television series, “The Queen’s Gambit” and “The Crown,” brought home 11 awards each, making them the most successful winners of the night. On the other hand, after being nominated for 21 awards and winning none, the television series, “The Handmaid’s Tale,” set a new record for the most losses in a single year.
