Fright Night

The night before Halloween, Ferguson’s courtyard came to life with children bustling around in costumes, candy being handed out and games being played. The time came for Fright Night once again, a Halloween event where kids from the community can come with their families for a bit of safe family fun before Halloween night.

The event is geared towards all of the family but mainly for kids between the ages of 2-10. Children came with their parents and were able to trick-or-treat around campus with the admission of two canned goods or toiletries to donate. The night was filled with fun and festive activities for everyone to join in, including the students.

There were booths set up by different clubs throughout the school. They helped pitch in and serve the community. Many of the students working the tables were dressed up in a variety of costumes, ranging from cats to demons. The clubs also had numerous activities for the children who attended to participate in,

The National Honor Society (NHS) created an Oreo Graveyard, and Environmental Club and FFEA both did bean bag tosses. Drama Club set up a creepy carnival Haunted House inside their room for children and their parents, and Early Childhood made a watercolor station.  Women of Tomorrow even set up a booth where kids could decorate crowns of their own. The booths had many different Halloween decorations, tricks, and treats displayed and the student staff gave out candy to all the children.

“Setting up was a bit difficult,” stated Stacy Giron, Italian Honor Society’s president. “Although it was tedious at times, it was worth it since our Italian themed photo booth was a success. Overall, it was really fun providing for the children of the community with an amusing activity.”

Children were able to come in costumes and trick-or-treat at the booths. There was even a dance-off towards the end of the night with all the kids dancing on stage. “I felt great knowing that the kids were enjoying their time there…” quoted Rachel Suarez, an NHS sophomore member. “I didn’t participate last year, I attended. I was really looking forward to it this year.”

Other events included a petting zoo organized by the vet students and performances done by the Fusion dancers at the beginning. Overall, it was a success for the school and for all parents, teachers, and students. Fright Night brought lots of spooky, Halloween fun to the halls of Ferguson and it could only get better next year!
