Discover a World of Tricks in the Physics Club
Ferguson’s Physics Club is one of the most inclusive and special clubs we have! It consistently presents a remarkable display of experiments they do and is open to anyone interested in science.
The club revolves around innovative projects curated to strike inspiration with the many intricacies of the course. They serve to provide a great source of information for kids who want to do any career having to do with physics in the future, as well as for anyone who enjoys science as a hobby.
“This year we are kicking off the club by doing rockets. We like to teach students how to do physics demos and what they are all about. We do projects to teach and see if any kids would like to pursue any career related to physics,” said Vice President, Maria Paula Garcia.
The fascinating part of entering Mr. Reguera’s room Tuesdays at 2:20 is that every member in there from the board to newly joined students are in unison, working towards their individual goals as a collective and supporting each other.
“I want to be an engineer whether mechanical or electrical, and I feel like physics club is a good way of expanding my hobby with others and people I can connect to,” said senior Alejandro Reyes.
Reyes, who has been involved in the club since his junior year, is fully enthralled in every activity that the club does with the intention of ultimately absorbing as much knowledge as possible that could help him accomplish his career application. However, similar to the rest, he has also taken as much of a part in fostering a community of learners in the class.
“It’s just like any other club where you can talk with people you can communicate with; you don’t just have to want to be an engineer, it is open to anyone. Science is not excluded to a singular group of people, it’s all-inclusive, it’s a way of expressing our love for science,” he added.
This level of inclusivity and appreciation for science is spread across the whole board.
“We aim to spread the word on many discoveries one can make with physics,” shared President, Abel Ojalvo.
The Physics Club has rapidly expanded in the past two years, becoming one of the largest clubs in all of Ferguson this year, and it is easy to see why. One does not need to be a science expert to be welcomed with open arms to a club with positive energy, fun projects, and a variety of planned field trips with a group that seems to have an almost family dynamic with each other.
