Beloved Alternative Rock Bands Come Together for HELLA MEGA Tour
Back in the early and mid-2000s, many alternative rock bands came to light and became popular entertainment for the youth. Many of those groups are still together creating music for their targeted audiences which vary nowadays.
Recently, three bands of this wave decided to come together to create the HELLA MEGA tour which will take place next year, during Summer 2020. But what’s up with all the craze and attention towards these American rock bands?
The three groups that are headlining together are Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and Green Day. Performing along with these bands are also the Interrupters. Each of these bands has produced top hits and still holds a strong fanbase.
The idea was announced back on September 10th, 2019. The concept of the tour goes back to Green Day. Lead singer of Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong, quotes that the bands Didn’t want to do stadiums and wanted to do something like the Monsters of Rock tour.” Armstrong alluded to these famous tours as they featured some of the most beloved rock bands in American history like Guns n’ Roses, Metallica, Scorpions, and more.
Along with the tour, each band has produced new music. Green Day recorded a whole new album entitled Father of All Mother******* and its cover shows a unicorn with silly eyes and bright colors around it. It currently has one released track which has a similar title from the album and ten tracks unreleased to the public. There are new tones and textures along with the album that makes it stand out against their previous discography.
Weezer announced their upcoming album Van Weezer but also only have one track released called “The End of the Game”. There are ten tracks that have yet to be released to listeners coming out in 2020. Released after the Black Album, it is similar to their early album Weezer, more commonly known as the Blue Album, but there are more solos and riffs. Lead vocalist and guitarist Rivers Cuomo claims it still has “catchy pop-rock songs”. He also states how the Black Album had no guitar sounds but their latest album contrasts as it brings out electric and bass guitar sounds. The inspiration came from accidentally playing certain harmonics or tappings which they experimented with in their latest album.
Fall Out Boy has only one single out currently called “Dear Future Self (Hands Up)“. They claim that their focus is testing out different sounds that mix along well with Rock. The group is not planning on creating a whole album but will perform their greatest hits during the tour for their fans and are working on their Greatest Hits: Believers Never Die – Volume Two album.
All their new music is going to be released in the upcoming months as the tour begins next year. It has a total of 46 shows. The Interrupters will only perform the North American shows and for the rest of the shows, there will be guest bands opening. The tour dates range from June to August 2020. The South Florida concert will take place on August 5th, 2020 with the three bands along with The Interrupters in the Hard Rock Stadium. For more information, visit https://hellamegatour.com/.
