BTS Returns with World Tour, New Album, and Tampa’s Turn in the Spotlight
The Korean boy group BTS is making their return to the stage this April with an 82-date world tour, after a four-year break to complete military service. As of now, 34 stops have been announced in different cities around the world, including three in Tampa. Fans are ready for the energetic performances from the seven members.
The group has several hits in the K-pop world like “DNA”, “Dynamite”, and “Butter”, among others. After the success of “K-Pop Demon Hunters”, many new audiences are being exposed to the genre. Fortunately, this new popularity seems to have coincided with ticket availability for the Tampa shows. Senior Hade Izquierdo shares: “I had bought the Army pre-sale in order to ensure tickets. They gave me a code, which got me into the queue at 9 to get 4 tickets.” Raymond James Stadium has a capacity of over 70,000 concertgoers for the three busy nights.
The group announced they would be going on a hiatus in 2022 to focus on completing their military service. Since then, individual members have released music under their own solo names, but fans have been waiting for a group return. New music has also been announced: a studio album named “Arirang” is set to be released on March 20th. Excitement is brewing; senior Isabel Arguello says, “I’ve been a fan for 6 years already, and knowing I’m going to see them in person now is surreal.”
The group has been active since 2013, with several musical shifts throughout the years. “I prefer their earlier music from when they were more rap-focused”, says senior Alejandra Caso. Singing along to songs and connecting to them as part of a live crowd will make for a different, much more memorable experience for the concertgoers. We hope that those who attend the tour enjoy their night.
