Catch the Fun: Get Cleared for Senior Events
As the school year continues, the Class of 2026 has a lot to look forward to. Exciting senior events such as the Senior Picnic at Zoo Miami, Senior Breakfast, Grad Bash, and more are on the horizon. These cherished traditions offer opportunities to celebrate together, make memories with friends, and mark the final year of high school in style. However, before joining in on these experiences, it’s important to make sure you’re cleared for participation in all senior activities.
This year’s Senior Picnic will be held at Zoo Miami on Wednesday, November 20th. It promises a day full of fun, laughter, and bonding with your classmates. The last chance to purchase your Senior Picnic ticket is this Sunday, November 2nd. Tickets are available for $45 on OSP and include entrance to the zoo, food, and access to special activities.
Don’t miss out on sitting with your friends. To join your preferred group, submit your bus group form. Each group should design a unique, school-appropriate t-shirt in black, white, or gray. Remember, shirts worn on campus must display the Ferguson logo and must not include any inappropriate language or imagery. All shirts must be approved by the administration using the official Group Shirt Submission Form. Planning your group shirt ahead of time ensures you’ll be ready for the big day.
To participate in senior events, you need to be cleared in the following categories:
• SCOIR: Make sure your Common App is linked to your SCOIR account. If not, visit Ms. Garcia in Room 18 for assistance.
• GPA: You must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. If you haven’t met this requirement, schedule time with your counselor for support and strategies to improve.
• Fundraising: Seniors are expected to sell at least two boxes of cookies or generate $40 in donations through our online platform. For questions, contact Ms. Esquen at nesquen@dadeschools.net.
• Absences & Tardies: Keep your attendance record in good standing. If there are clearance concerns, check with Mr. McFarley for guidance.
• Suspensions (Indoor/Outdoor): If you have suspension records, reach out to Ms. Del Valle for clearance requirements or appeals.
• Community Service: You must log at least 10 service hours. If you haven’t done so already, submit your completed hours or direct questions to Ms. Esquen by email.
Senior year is packed with meaningful events and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Take care of your clearances as soon as possible to avoid missing any of these memorable moments. Secure your tickets and get your approvals in order now. Let’s make this a year to remember—one filled with friendship, fun, and lasting senior memories.
