Exploring Christmas Traditions
As the holiday season settles in, families embrace the Christmas spirit by participating in traditions that add warmth and joy to the wintertime. There are many traditions that come along with Christmas, most meant to be done amongst family and friends.
Though we all like getting gifts, Christmas is all about spending time with your family and spreading love.
“My family loves to go off with the gifts and all the wrapping stuff, but at the end of the day, I realize that Christmas isn’t about amazing gifts, but more about seeing our loved ones be happy.” Says senior, Kamila Pereda.
One of the most exciting parts about Christmas is the big tree you get to decorate. A traditional family activity is going together to pick out the perfect tree. People typically head to a local tree farm and spend the day finding the tree that speaks to them. However, to many, it isn’t only about the tree, but about the memories made in the process.
Decorating the tree with ornaments is also a very common tradition. Finding the right set of ornaments and taking the time to put the tree together calls for family bonding and priceless memories.
Individuals often see the holidays as a season of delicious foods.
“For Christmas, we usually make a nice big breakfast and then watch each other open our presents.” Camila Jarquin, senior, states. “I really like how my family is in the moment and we are enjoying the moment.”
Families usually find themselves gathering around the table to enjoy home cooked food. The holidays also call for a lot of fun sweet recipes, with a variety of recipes from sugar cookies to fruitcake. Whatever it is, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! It’s a memorable way to spend time with friends and family.
How ever you choose to celebrate, Christmas has always been known to be one of the most loved and anticipated holidays of the year. It is a time where everyone gets to be together and stay close to those who matter. Happy Holidays!
