Falcons Blank Braddock in Girls Soccer Showdown
The Falcons Girls Soccer Team kept their momentum going on January 6th, defeating the G. Holmes Braddock Bulldogs 2–0. Ferguson controlled the match early and never let up, applying pressure on offense and staying organized on defense to secure the shutout.
“We’ve been putting in a lot of work to stay sharp and play more together,” said sophomore Natalie Ortiz. “It felt good to see it pay off on the field.”
From the start, the Falcons took control and created scoring chances that Braddock struggled to stop. The Falcons moved the ball quickly through the midfield, connecting passes and using the width of the field to stretch the Bulldogs’ back line. Several early attempts forced the Braddock goalkeeper to make saves, setting the tone and keeping the pressure on.
Ferguson’s defense stayed strong the whole game, preventing any goals from the Bulldogs and locking in the win. The back line stayed compact, clearing dangerous balls out of the box and stepping up to challenge every attack. The midfielders tracked back to help on defense, closing passing lanes and making it difficult for Braddock to build any rhythm in the attacking third.
As the match went on, the Falcons continued to outwork their opponents, winning loose balls and turning defensive stops into quick counterattacks. The team’s communication on the field helped them stay organized, with players calling out marks, directing coverage, and encouraging each other after big plays.
With the victory, the Falcons look to keep their run going as they take on Monsignor Pace today. The team hopes to carry the same intensity, focus, and teamwork into their next match, using this win as motivation to keep improving. Make sure to come out and support the team, bringing high energy and school spirit.
