Marty Supreme: The Hottest New Release

With the buzzing media attention, everyone has seen at least one promotion for Marty Supreme. It didn’t end at trailers; they made a viral “leaked” Zoom call with Timothee Chalamet with ridiculous ideas, like an orange blimp and a Wheaties box, which blew up and had people reposting it. They had merch go viral, which garnered celebrity involvement, such as Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner, and Tom Brady. The movie hosted pop-up events and teasers in Times Square. It was so overwhelming in media attention that it had people questioning why they couldn’t escape the upcoming film. Its high ratings after its release proved the value of all the marketing that circulated.

Set in the 1950s, this film is about the odyssey of Marty Mauser, a shoe salesman who dreams of becoming a champion table tennis player. The journey is messy and dangerous, with Marty’s overwhelming ambition leading him to cheat to reach a world championship, resulting in moral and ethical compromises.

Many well-known actors starred in this film, which drew fans of all genres to this film. Timothee Chalamet played as Marty Mauser, Gwyneth Paltrow played as Kay Stone, and Odessa A’zion played as Rachel Mizler. Their performances were phenomenal and were well-received by critics.

Many loved the complex character that Marty Mauser embodies. His selfish drive somehow makes many watchers root for him. People liked how his insecurity showed, and others were enamored by his charm. The story is well structured and immerses people quickly. Some thought it was too slow-paced and that the movie could’ve been shorter, but many still believe the movie was incredible. There are minimal public critiques of this film, proving how excellent this film was.

This can be seen by the 4 awards it won. Timothee Chamalet won Best Actor for the Critics’ Choice Award and the Golden Globe Award. The movie itself won the American Film Institute’s (AFI) Movies of the Year Award and the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Screenplay.

Streaming on Apple TV and Prime Video, this film has captured the attention of audiences, especially those who love sports and athletic cinema.
