Falcons Shut Out South Miami 2–0
The Falcons varsity baseball team at John A. Ferguson Senior High School secured a 2–0 victory over South Miami High School on Monday, March 9, adding another win to their regular-season record.
The game remained scoreless through the early innings as both teams battled defensively. Ferguson eventually broke through offensively and finished the game with two runs, while the team’s pitching and defense kept South Miami off the scoreboard.
“Rijo pitched an amazing 6 innings, and I’m proud of the amazing game we played as a team,” says senior Andy Hernandez.
Several defensive plays helped maintain the shutout, and strong pitching kept South Miami from gaining offensive momentum throughout the game. Ferguson controlled the pace in the later innings to secure the 2–0 final score.
Pitcher Jose Rijo was named Player of the Game after pitching six innings without allowing a hit or an earned run, contributing to the team’s shutout performance.
The Falcons will return to the field tomorrow, March 12, at 3:30 p.m., when they face Southwest Miami High School. The game will be the team’s next opportunity to continue building momentum this season.
