Ferguson’s Winter Spirit Week Goes Down in History

John A. Ferguson’s Winter Spirit Week has always been one of the most anticipated school events during the holidays. SGA announced that we will be having this festive tradition throughout the week of December 19th to December 22nd. This spirit week spanned 4 days because Friday was a teacher planning day.

The week started out with Holiday accessory day, where our falcons could spice up their outfits with various accessories. Students were required to wear the school uniform but the additions of headbands, earrings, reindeer noses, bracelets, hair accessories, Santa hats, and light-up necklaces really enhanced the routine. Unsprisignly the most popular accessory turnout came in the form of either Santa hats and reindeer ears, but some students even went above and beyond by adding ornaments to their hair or even having accessories that lit up with a remote.

One of the most comfortable and warm days of the week was certainly on Fam Jam Day. That Tuesday, students were able to wear their holiday pajamas to school. There was even a photo wall set up for students to take group pictures with their friends. Those pictures came out even better when students coordinated pajamas. Despite this, students kept in mind to wear matching appropriate PJ tops and bottoms or holiday t-shirts.

Wednesday was a special day for Ferguson students, as it was the first time the school has put up its own designed Ferguson holiday t-shirts. This was the day students could sport their Ferguson holiday apparel purchased on OSP. It was only available for a limited amount of time, so those who bought it were that lucky!

The Ferguson SGA truly saved the best for last with the famed Ugly Sweater Day being on Thursday, the last school day of the week. It was especially enjoyable to walk around and see comical sights at every corner of the hallways. Some students truly outdid themselves with sweaters that depicted Christmas lights that actually lit up. Even without these extra characteristics, all sweaters were quite funny.

“This week has been amazing as I’ve been able to connect with everyone and have fun before the holidays. I’ve enjoyed seeing the holiday spirit around Ferguson and everyone having a good time,” shared freshman Diana Hernandez, summing up the week’s success.

This year’s holiday spirit week gave students and teachers alike the opportunity to connect with everyone before the long winter break commences. With students around the school all enjoying their own festivities like Secret Santas and ornament collections, this week of outfits gave everyone an exciting way to celebrate. Even more so, everyone ended not only each day, but ended the week off on an overjoyed note, including us at the talon! We hope everyone has had a year for the history books and that you have a happy holiday season.
