How Seniors are Coping Weeks Before Graduation

As the fourth and final quarter of high school rolls in for the seniors, tons of emotions and thoughts are running through their minds. Many are extremely excited for the last nine weeks ahead of them while others are a bit nervous due to the fact that there are only a couple weeks left until they have to go out into the real world and start new.

Of course, there are also those that have been dealing with senioritis since the first week of school and just can’t wait to get out of what seems to be the longest year of their lives! Although so many of the seniors want to jump straight into graduation, there is still a good amount of work left to be done.

“It’s kind of rough because we’re already in college basically but all of these grades still matter for colleges.” Senior, Eddy Chavez said.

Seeing as the year is coming to an end, some believe that there is really no point in doing anything. It’s a struggle because even though you feel like slacking off and starting vacation early, there are still so many exams and so much homework and classwork left to be completed. As the final nine weeks begin, there are a couple of seniors that especially feel a sense of relief knowing that all of the stress that comes with high school is almost gone.

“No more waking up at 6 am anymore or leaving from track practice at 6 pm either!” Ivan Garcia said.

The senioritis has definitely kicked in for many individuals. For some, after the first couple weeks of school, they had definitely checked out. But for many, the last nine weeks of school is especially where they feel it’s going to hit them hard.

“I’ve already clocked out of school. I am so ready to graduate and start at Miami-Dade.” Alexandra Quiňones said.

Many are truly fearful to go out into the real world. This nine weeks is an eye opener for many who feel nervous about graduation approaching and having to start their journey of being an independent adult.

“I’m shocked, I can’t believe it all went by so fast.” Omar Hernandez said

Just a few weeks left until they can finally start fresh and go on to do great things with their lives. It’s sad for many knowing that their final moments of high school are passing by them, but it’s amazing to feel that sense of achievement knowing you’re almost done. So keep working hard seniors and enjoy all you’ve got left, you’re so much closer to the goal than you can even imagine!
