Most-Anticipated Summer Movies

This summer, the theaters were packed and excited, as new and continuous movies were released. The movies made their way to the spotlight as more and more people visited the cinema. The films resulted in packed theaters, so if you want to watch them now then here is a brief list of the most streamed movies of the summer. 

Longlegs (May 31, 2024) 

Longlegs is a 2024 American horror-thriller film directed by Osgood Perkins. This film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, famous movie star Nicolas Cage as Longlegs, Blair Underwood as Agent Carter, and Alicia Witt as Ruth Harker. Taking place in the 1990s, it follows an FBI agent tracking down an occult serial killer who murdered multiple families in Oregon without physical presence. 

Inside Out 2 (June 14, 2024) 

Inside Out 2 is an animated coming-of-age film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures in 2024. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, the plot is about Riley’s emotions, which are influenced by new emotions that want to take over her head. The film stars Amy Poehler voicing Joy, Phyllis Smith voicing Sadness, Lewis Black voicing Anger, Diane Lane voicing Mom, and Kyle MacLachlan voicing Dad. This movie sequel includes new characters such as Envy, Anxiety, Embarrassment, and Ennui. 

A Quiet Place: Day One (June 28, 2024) 

This prequel is set in New York City, where blind extraterrestrial creatures invade. Survivors try to stay silent to avoid the “Death Angels,” known for slaughtering people if they hear noise. The main characters are Joseph Quinn as Eric and Lupita Nyong’o as Samira “Sam”. They go through many life-or-death situations together and learn that working together benefits them.  

Despicable Me 4 (July 3, 2024)2 

Despicable Me 4 is an animated comedy film released in 2024, following the success of Despicable Me 3 and The Minions movie franchise. The film follows the story of reformed supervillain and secret agent Gru, who moves his family to a safe house after his old rival Maxime Le Mal seeks revenge. The film also features subplots involving Gru’s family, teenage neighbor Poppy Prescott, and a group of Gru’s Minions becoming superheroes. 

Twister (July 19, 2024) 

Kate Cooper, haunted by a tornado incident that took away her friends, is lured back to Oklahoma by her friend Javi to test a new tracking system. She meets Tyler Owens, a social-media star who enjoys storm-chasing. As storm season intensifies, Kate, Tyler, and their teams face a deadly battle as multiple systems converge over central Oklahoma. 

Deadpool & Wolverine (July 24, 2024) 

Deadpool & Wolverine is a 2024 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The film is the 34th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and follows Deadpool and Wolverine as they work together to stop the Time Variance Authority from destroying their home universe. 

This summer’s surge of entertainment kept people engaged and brought friends and families together in theaters, creating high anticipation for next summer’s exciting lineup.
