Ms. Perez’s ‘Journey of Hope’ Continues to Accept Donations
Ms. Jennifer Perez, one of Ferguson’s most beloved English teachers, was recently diagnosed with cancer. A GoFundMe page was started by Ms. Rainelli, the Ferguson English Department Chair, in mid-November. Due to increasing medical expenses, donations made to her GoFundMe page ensure she’ll be able to afford the care she needs. A few days after the GoFundMe was created, Ms. Perez had surgery early in the morning. After the surgery, Ms. Perez’s sister updated the GoFundMe with positive news as to how the surgery went. Both lesions were taken out and she will start radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
Ms. Perez is a single mother of five and has spent the past 17 years educating students at Ferguson. She is an invaluable member of the Falcon community and has kept a strong spirit throughout the process. On Ms. Perez’s Instagram (@jeni777), she posts updates on her recovery under a series she titled, ‘Jenny Journey of Hope’. If you feel moved by her story, her GoFundMe page is still accepting donations.
The Talon staff wishes Ms. Perez a safe recovery and a joyous holiday season.
