Seniors’ Last First Day
On Monday morning, the seniors at John A. Ferguson roamed around the halls in their dazzling, bold senior crowns feeling a jumble of emotions knowing that their final first day of high school was here at last. Many thoughts and feelings may be going through the minds of the upperclassmen, but you could definitely sense the excitement in the crowds.
“It’s bittersweet but it’s also very emotional knowing that this is the last but meaning the first of very good opportunities,” Emily Perdomo said.
For our 2019 seniors, this is the year where many hope to create new and exciting memories with not only their friends but their teachers and families as well. It’s the time for seniors to get out of their comfort zones and finish their high school experience in a thrilling way.
“I’m so excited to create more friendships and have some really fun adventures my last year,” Senior Marilyn Medina said excitedly.
Not only is this the year to create new memories but it’s also the final chance for a lot of the seniors to bring their GPA’s up. “Waking up knowing that I have a whole year to try my absolute best is what will keep me going,” Marilyn said. It can be nerve wrecking for those focusing on college applications and SAT’s but the most important thing seniors should remember is to have lots of fun along the way.
“Although I really want to get my GPA up and focus on getting into a university, I won’t stop trying to make new friends,” stated Madison Maulini.
Students were more than ready to meet their new teachers and see how their classes would treat them in their final year as a falcon. “I really am happy about all my classes and I know overall it will be a good year,” said Emily Perdomo.
Education is and will always be important but the seniors are definitely looking forward to all their activities coming up. All these events give them a boatload of motivation to start the new school year strong. The upperclassmen can’t help but feel exhilaration knowing that some of the best moments of their high school experience are almost at reach.
“I’m so pumped for grad bash. It might be months away but this first day of school has made it feel so close,” said Axl Huaman.
Although these three years at John A. Ferguson have come with struggles and hardships, there have been endless amounts of laughter and happiness along the way. The first day was full of excitement but there’s more the rest of this year has to offer. Don’t give up now falcons!
