The 2022 Emmy Award Winners
This year marked the 74th Annual Emmys Awards, which was hosted on September 12th, 2022. The show has always had a massive amount of buzz surrounding it from its highly anticipated reputation. For decades, the Emmys has given both live television and actors in that media the ability to showcase their performances and accomplishments to alike. Like last year, the Emmys was hosted in L.A Live entertainment complex.
The Emmy Awards were founded by Sid Cassyd, who, with Walter O’Keefe hosting, aired the first Primetime Emmy Awards on January 25, 1949, marking the beginning of Emmy history. Since then, numerous big names and prominent figures in the industry have hosted this prestigious event ranging from standup comedians to actors. This years Emmys was hosted by Kenan Thompson, a largely well-known American actor and comedian who is largely recognized from his role in “Saturday Night Live.” Amongst made notable presenters were Will Arnett, Angela Bassett, Kelly Clarkson and jimmy Kimmel.
The Emmys had a variety of categories to find success in, but other than the awarding process, the Emmys also included entertainment factors like musical performances. The opening performance of this year was John Legend’s performance of “Pieces,” a song dedicated to paying respects to many of the performers and behind the scenes players. Some notable moments were “Better call Saul” created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould bringing no Emmys home, causing a massive upset, and then getting surpassed by squid game for best leading role. In addition, Nathan Lane won his 7th Emmy, with this being his 7th nomination in the category of guest actor for his appearance on “Only Murders in the Building.” In addition, the “Ted Lasso” series took home 4 back to back wins for Outstanding Comedy Series.
