The Unforgettable Grand Finale of “The Summer I Turned Pretty”

This past July, our favorite summer show rolled back around to complete its third and final season. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” fans were excited and took their opinions to social media. They spent all 11 weeks rooting for their favorite boy and having watch parties with their friends and family. The show began in June of 2022, and with its success, it was renewed for two more seasons to go along with the book trilogy. It gave us watchers something to look forward to every week when we were stuck at home.

One of the main reasons the show is so popular is because of how split up fans are between picking one brother. Before this season, there was a decent number of people on Team Jeremiah, the more enthusiastic and outgoing brother. Meanwhile, others were on Team Conrad, the more introverted and emotional brother. Each brother had their good and bad qualities, but as the season progressed, many people switched over to Team Conrad as it became clear that Jeremiah was immature and wouldn’t be a good partner for Belly.

Sophomore Daniella Lopez-Cohen said, ‘’I’m team Conrad because Jeremiah is irresponsible and annoying. Conrad is better, and Belly has loved him for so long. Plus, the chemistry is insane.’’ While Junior Kaylee Perez gave the reason why she switched over to team Conrad recently, ‘’I switched to team Conrad because I thought that this season Jeremiah was acting super childish and immature. Conrad had his life planned out and made himself a better person for Belly and for himself. Jeremiah just brought Belly down with him.’’ Although a small number of people may still be on Jeremiah’s side, clearly, team Conrad is the more popular choice of brother after this finale.

Fans are content with the ending of the show, some thinking it seemed rushed, but overall, they are happy with the decision Belly made. It was truly exciting to sit down every Wednesday during the summer for the past few years to be a part of such an entertaining and exciting story. Everyone has taken to social media to express how much they will miss the dynamic between everybody in the cast, including behind the scenes and interviews.

As the series concluded, Jenny Han announced that there would be a movie, covering another significant milestone for Belly and how she overcomes it. For now, the actors are working on side projects, but fans eagerly await their return to the big screen.
