Disney+ Releases the New Percy Jackson Series Teaser
A new Percy Jackson adaptation has been in the works for a while now, and its first teaser trailer has been shown to the eyes of fans. The famous book franchise has been very successful with its books, but its movie adaptations had a troubled start. Many fans say the movies weren’t accurate to the books, but even though they aren’t accurate, people still loved the fantasy scenes from the movies. With a new series coming, one in which Rick Riordan is very involved, fans hope the new series will do the books justice.
The show’s casting came out in April of last year, announcing that the three main characters will be played by Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Fans were delighted with the casting and the different perceptions of the characters, as shown.
Though Jeffries and Simhadri don’t have much acting experience, they are excited to see new faces as their favorite characters. Scobell, on the other hand, is a more familiar face, playing alongside Ryan Reynolds in the movie “The Adam Project” fans can see his talent through other projects, and they are ready to see this take on the role of Percy.
A teaser trailer was released one week ago, giving fans a taste of the show. Fans were able to get a lot of hints on what the show will be about through the 53-second-long teaser.
There was a lot of symbolism throughout the trailer, starting with the names on the arrows pointing to different parts of the camp having greek lettering to later on in the trailer, where we see an owl peering through the tree, symbolizing Athena, and Annabeth, Athena’s daughter.
Many fans also caught on to less obvious easter eggs in the clips. One, in particular, was the lake Percy walks on, which is the one he claimed as Poseidon’s. Others caught on to the necklace he is unfolding is the one you get on your first day at camp-half blood.
Since the show is still very much in development, there is no release date yet, but DisneyPlus has a tentative release for early 2024.
While this is just the beginning, and this less-than-a-minute clip is the only trailer we have so far, there is much more to come, and I, along with fans of the show, have high expectations for the show. Many hope it does the books justice and takes the most loved scenes to the screen.
