What You Missed at the Emmy Awards

The 2024 Emmy Award winners were celebrated on September 15th in Los Angeles, recognizing this year’s outstanding TV shows and movies. Hosting the event were the father-and-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy.

The American historical drama series Shogun, created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, won the award for Outstanding Drama Series. The show, which consists of 10 episodes, vividly portrays Japanese culture in the early 17th century. Shogun emerged as the night’s biggest winner, taking home 18 awards.

Japanese actress Anna Sawai, 32, won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for her powerful portrayal of Lady Mariko in Shogun. In her heartfelt acceptance speech, she thanked her mother for inspiring her performance.

Jeremy Allen White claimed the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as “Carmy” in The Bear. The show, now in its third season, tells the gripping story of a young chef grappling with the weight of family, grief, and legacy in Chicago’s cutthroat culinary world.
