Club Rush
One day out of the new school year, many diverse groups of students gather around the courtyard during both lunches to showcase their exciting clubs in hopes that the students here at Ferguson will want to join. This year, it is being held on September 20th. This activity is a tremendous help in making sure that students get the opportunity to see what attracts their interests as well as their personalities.
“I’m looking forward to joining the drama club because I get to show everyone my character,” said Victoria Farinas.
Club rush is a way for everyone to have quick, easy access to all the information they need that has to do with extracurricular activities. It can be very difficult at times to find where clubs are located or if they even exist and this makes it easier overall.
“All the clubs are there at once; you don’t have to go around trying to find them,” said Justin Hogan.
There’s really no excuse when it comes to joining a club because the students putting all of this together make sure everyone knows what they have to do in order to participate. You get tons of information from Club Rush regarding what the membership requirements are, what the club’s main goals and priorities are, and when and where the club meets. Most clubs give days and times of meetings in advance which is great for those looking for something that will align with their schedules.
It’s important for our school to be aware of all the activities offered just because of the sheer amount there are. You will definitely find something that will interest you. There are over 60 clubs on campus and you never know which one will help bring out the best in you. Joining a club that makes you want to participate and come to school will help make your high school experience so much more engaging.
“You should definitely be involved and know that school is not just purely academic, that there’s also activities and athletics to be involved in,” said Club Rush organizer, Ms. Rae-Schulze.
Although Club Rush is a great time for students to see what they could possibly enjoy doing in the future, the club organizers themselves must work hard to make sure their presentations are eye-catching. The activities director, Ms. Rae-Schulze, makes sure that Club Rush is put together in an organized and timely manner. The way it’s organized is pretty simple but everyone must do their part. Ms. Rae-Schulze sends out emails to all clubs reminding them of what it is they have to do and ensures that they all have sign-up sheets for the students.
“The clubs are the ones doing all the work in this event. This is more on them and how they present their club. If you don’t present it well, then you’re not going to get people to join because they won’t think it’s interesting,” Ms. Rae-Schulze said.
There is a wide spectrum of amazing clubs this school has to offer for everything from science to art. If you’re looking into joining a group of students with similar interests you won’t want to miss this event. Club rush is a great opportunity for those wanting to be involved in something significant, to step out of their comfort zone, and reach for a goal!
The clubs here at Ferguson are guaranteed to help give you a special place in our community. Don’t miss out on the chance to be involved in some extracurricular activities. You want enough time to see all the wonderful clubs you can join, so eat your lunch quickly Falcons!
