Ferguson Falcons Surf to Homecoming Game with Spirit

On the night of September 28th, the long-awaited homecoming game against Braddock was played at Tropical Park, where graduated ex-alumni were invited to return to watch their former underclassmen compete against one of the school’s main rivals. Attendees were encouraged to dress with a “beach” theme, and they did not disappoint.

The varsity football players had trained extensively for this very moment and went above and beyond on the turf. Putting every drop of sweat, days of hard training, and even harder practices into their game.

After going up by 11 in the first quarter, our Falcons didn’t stop going hard at the Bulldogs. With the bleachers packed with people, floaties, and flip-flops, the festive atmosphere showed our players what school spirit is really about. Even though we lost, the team will still take it as fuel to maintain their competitive streak and stay on fire.

It was a frustrating game for the players, as Braddock clinched a victory. Senior Lineman Enzo Viña had this to say about the game, “we came out to win but let our simple mistakes beat us.”

They tried their hardest throughout the game and had the upper hand for the second and third quarters. However, Braddock managed to come back in the last quarter, where the two teams were stuck margins-margins. Within the last 30 seconds, they managed to with a last-second touchdown leaving the score 23-26.

Senior Wide Receiver Joshua Castellon said, “Although this was a tough loss, I know my teammates, coaches, and I gave 100% effort into that game.” When asked about how the team reacted he assured that “the homecoming game will help make this team even tougher moving forward.” We wish our fierce Falcon football team for a successful season, and we are truly proud of you for igniting Ferguson’s pride with your explosive performances.
