Ferguson Spirit Week: Athletes VS. Scholars
Are you a Scholar or an Athlete? Students at Ferguson were able to embrace their school spirit by dressing up as either a scholar or an athlete and participating in the courtyard activities during first and second lunch on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
“I dressed up in my Ferguson cheerleading uniform to show my school spirit on Wednesday. I enjoyed the music with my friends during lunch, and had a great day,” said sophomore cheerleader, Victoria Perez.
A student-led “dance party” took place, where students could come out in their outfits and have fun with their friends while they enjoyed lunch. Typical scholars were dressed in button-ups and ties while athletes dressed with jerseys and sportswear.
“Since this is my last spirit week in high school, I made it a priority to dress out every day, and ‘Athletes vs. Scholars’ is always my favorite spirit week theme,” senior, Ivan Lopez said.
Athletes vs. Scholar is a popular theme at Ferguson because many students enjoy the creativity they put into their own costumes. This theme has repeated itself in the past years.
To determine which is superior, athlete or scholar, a trivia challenge was also held during lunch. All students were encouraged to participate and to dress out by administration and teachers.
