What started as brushfires brought on by both human activity and natural conditions has become an inferno raging across Australia creating a nightmare for Australians and Australian wildlife.

The country known as the Land Down Under has four states affected by bushfires. Before the raging fires, the whole country was going through a drought that has only worsened firefighting conditions. The fire has covered 23,000 square miles over the weekend. This nation still has two summer months lefts before the inferno comes to an end. More than 14 and a half million acres have been damaged.

During this fire season, 24 people have been killed. This is the worst fire Australia has ever seen since 2009 where a monstrous wildfire killed 173 people. Due to the states of emergencies in different counties across the nation, this is the largest peace-time evacuation of citizens in Australia’s history.

The situation is known as border fire. It is engulfing land from the southernmost state of Victoria into New South Wales. Some communities already have lost homes, but others are refusing to leave. Several families have moved on to tugboats while a few are staying in their cars and caravans near the water. The military said they are ready to help. They are offering some places for the citizens to sleep and those who are injured can get attention at a medical facility that they are also providing.

It has been recorded that over 500 million animals have been affected in some way.

Some organizations, big companies, and are helping the cause. One quick and easy way to donate is to go to this google link where you can choose to either donate either $15, $25, or $50.

Celebrities that have made notable donations include Kylie Jenner, Elton John, Selena Gomez, and Australia native actor Chris Hemsworth who have all donated at least 1 million dollars. Various koala sanctuaries have been set up to help treat koalas and other unique and endangered Australian wildlife impacted by the fires.
