Another Unforgettable Evening at the Golden Globes
On January 5th, the Golden Globes celebrated their 82nd anniversary, airing on CBS and Paramount. It was a memorable, glamorous, and exciting night for audiences and nominees.
The Golden Globes are usually hosted at the beginning of the year and award actors and actresses for their artwork from the previous year. This event is usually just the beginning of award season which primarily takes place during January and February.
This year’s event was hosted by Nikki Glaser, who made it her own with jokes that made the audience laugh many times. An eventful night beheld viewers with stars walking the red carpet in some stunning dresses and gowns as well as noteworthy and significant reveals.
For starters, Zendaya arrived on the carpet with a ring that announced her engagement to Tom Holland. This was only the beginning of the night’s exciting occurrences. Excitingly, the Wicked cast appeared, including Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jeff Goldblum, the most talked about cast since Wicked’s release.
Along with exciting appearances, the fashion did not disappoint. The fashion designers the actors worked with made their best effort to have glamorous looks walk the carpet. Actress Nicole Kidman showed up in a silver and backless Balenciaga dress, while Zoe Saldana wore a sequin and silk Saint Laurent outfit; both of which held the gazes of all eyes that night.
Out of the many awards given out throughout the night, Emilia Perez won a decent amount of them, including best film for Musical or Comedy. Zoe Saldana also won Best Supporting Actress. Along with these achievements, they both also won Best Non-English film and Best Song. Similarly, after being in the industry for 40 years, Demi Moore won her first award as an actress. Fernanda Torres was also the first Brazilian to win Best Actress in a drama film.
Shockingly, many of these nominees and award winners had their start in high school drama classes. Actors like Timothee Chalamet, Rachel Zegler, and Natalie Portman, all got their start by participating in theater classes. Similar to the drama kids here at Ferguson, they would perform in school productions, leading them to local show performances, big theater productions, and popular films. This inspiration does not only reach art kids who aspire to land their role in the industry, but trickles down to students who aspire to land any big dream. It is definitely possible like it was for these actors.
