Blood Drive

On November 7th and 8th, Oneblood was at John A. Ferguson for the annual blood drive from 8:30 AM to 1:50 PM. Students were able to donate their blood during these two days. Those who participated were able to contribute and help save someone’s life just by a simple act. In return for their donation, each student was given a blanket (courtesy of Oneblood) as well as food (to gain strength after getting blood drawn). As part of the benefits, they also received a wellness checkup that consisted of blood pressure, temperature, iron count, pulse and a cholesterol screening. If students couldn’t donate blood at the school because of absence during these dates or were just unable to go but would like to support the cause, they can make an online appointment at www.oneblooddonor.org and use the sponsor code #900. If any more information is needed on the donation process, or about Oneblood you can visit their website, oneblood.org or you can call them at 1.888.9.DONATE.They may request your ID upon the appointment. The importance of regularly donating blood is that when students begin to donate at an early age they create habits of offering aid to those in need while realizing that a kind action is always well received and that one person, one needle, and one blood retrieval can make a difference when saving a precious life. They would be offering another person the chance to have another day, another smile, another hug and another opportunity at a family gathering to give love and receive love. Give the gift of life at One blood.
