Upcoming October Movies

October is right around the corner, and one thing that makes a week good, is a movie. Let’s take a look at some upcoming movies.

First off, there’s Clayface directed by Mike Flanagan. It is a dark, character-driven origin story following one of Batman’s most tragic villains, Basil Karlo, a fading actor who goes to horrifying lengths to preserve his career and identity. Unlike typical blockbuster action films, this project leans heavily into psychological horror and practical creature effects to bring the morphing villain to life. If you are a fan of DC’s darker storytelling, make sure to catch this one in theaters on Friday, October 9.

Junior Adrian Ruiz said, “I’ve always thought Clayface was one of the most underrated Batman villains, so seeing a full horror-focused movie dedicated to him has me super hyped.” Digger is set to release on October 16, 2026. This original suspense thriller follows an isolated archivist who uncovers a sequence of buried, century-old audio recordings that reveal a dangerous conspiracy beneath a small industrial town. As he digs deeper into the mystery, he realizes that someone—or something—is actively working to keep those secrets buried forever.

Senior Celeste Jimenez commented, “It’s refreshing to get a completely original thriller that isn’t part of a giant franchise, and the premise sounds genuinely tense.”

Whalefall is a high-concept survival thriller coming out on October 23! Based on the bestselling novel, the story follows a young diver who, while searching for his late father’s lost remains off the coast of California, is accidentally swallowed alive by an eighty-foot, 100-ton sperm whale. With only 100 minutes of oxygen remaining in his scuba tank, he must find a way to navigate the pitch-black, suffocating chamber of the whale’s stomach and escape before his air runs out.

Junior Leo Vance noted, “I read the book in one sitting, so I’m really curious to see how they manage to capture that level of claustrophobia on the big screen.”

Capturing Bigfoot is an immersive found-footage horror movie arriving just in time for Halloween on October 28. The film follows a documentary film crew that ventures deep into the dense, uncharted wilderness of the Pacific Northwest armed with high-tech thermal cameras and satellite tracking. What starts as an ambitious hunt for legendary myth quickly turns into a
desperate struggle for survival when they realize they have wandered directly into the creature’s hunting grounds.

Senior Maya Patel shared, “Found-footage movies are always hit or miss, but doing a realistic, terrifying take on Bigfoot sounds like the perfect movie to watch right before Halloween.”

Finally, Street Fighter hits theaters on October 30. This brand-new live-action martial arts epic serves as a total reboot of the iconic video game franchise. Ditching the campiness of earlier adaptations, this film focuses on the high-stakes global tournament where legendary fighters like Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li battle their way through M. Bison’s underground criminal syndicate. Packed with intense choreography and faithful special moves, it aims to deliver the definitive fighting game cinema experience.

Sophomore Chris Taylor added, “As long as the fight scenes are fast-paced and they do justice to the characters’ classic moves, this could easily be the best action movie of the fall.”

As you can see, the line up for this month’s upcoming movies is very interesting. Make sure to look back on the dates and get your tickets before they sell out.
