The Little Mermaid

The thespian troupe 6822 is a program designed to give students extensive experience in theatre, and long-lasting engagement. The opening show of The Little Mermaid was one unforgettable night for not only the cast members but for the audience as well. The troupe worked very hard to put a great performance and the costumes were great.

Seeing the girls who played Ariel’s sisters was a favorite because of the costumes and how amazing of a performance they did. Not to mention, how dedicated Senior Lena Rodriguez looked to play her part. She is an amazing singer who got the part she deserved.

The dancers dressed in blue had wonderful costumes as well and represented the ocean when they danced. The audience was entertained by the colorful designs and music, as well as the well-made props.

The actors and actresses that played mermaids or sea animals wore rollerblades to simulate swimming in the ocean. Roller skating isn’t easy either so that was one little challenge they must’ve had, but managed to execute without problem for the most part.

The musical performances were beautiful, especially the performance of the classic Part of Your World. The show was divided into two halves and had a five-minute intermission, where you could purchase snacks and drinks that the theater kids were selling. It was also interactive with the audience, some of the audience members being brought up to the stage during the performance of Under The Sea by the mermaid sisters. Ursula and her eels also threw dolls into the audience during one of their scenes.

The show ended with the famous wedding scene and the reappearance of all who were in the play. The whole room cheered for the cast as they all came on stage individually after the show ended. Overall, the opening night was a success with many students, teachers, and parents going to watch it.
