Girls Basketball Claims Victory Against Bulldogs

The girl’s basketball team continue to prove themselves as unstoppable, beating Braddock this past Friday with a 40-31 victory! This win officiates their record 8-4. 

The girls hope to keep up their momentum and extend their two-game winning streak.  

With six games left until the end of the season, anticipation and tensions are growing.  The girls are faced with intense competition and pressure for success. 

“I feel like I could have done better and increased my shooting percentage,” Cecilia Rodriguez, junior shooting guard, says. “In the first half, we struggled and had our faults, but we picked it up in the second half.” 

Despite obstacles, the team was able to unite together using individual and team strength to pull a successful result. They utilized the use of communication and technical skills, along with uplifting each other. 

“I feel like we did good. There was room for improvement during the first half, but after talking to my coach during halftime, I think it encouraged us to be better.” Senior forward, Leahmel Vargas, states. “We could have played better, but we are progressing and starting to get the hang of it.” 

Along with showing team coalition, the game allowed for players to flaunt their individual skills. Sophia Diaz, junior small forward, lead the leaderboard of most points made, accumulating twenty-two points and nine rebounds throughout the game. Ivette Fernandez, sophomore, also held a high record, totaling eight points and five rebounds. 

It isn’t a shock to see such an excellent performance from an elite team. As the season approaches its end, we hope that the team flourishes even more, along with keeping their current record and pace.  Come and show your support during Friday’s game against Coral Gables at the cage!
