Unmissable Holiday Locations in Florida
All year round, Florida tends to be a hotspot for tourists all around the world, especially in the summer. However, let’s turn the spotlight from Florida’s glamorous summer tourist locations and take a look at the best spots to visit during Florida’s winter season.
Starting, we have Destin, Florida, located all the way north-west in the panhandle and near Tallahassee. Destin is known as the “Emerald Coast” thanks to its pristine waters at the Crystal Sands beach, a popular spot in Destin. Alongside the beach, Destin has a plethora of seasonal events, such as the Sandestin Gumbo Festival, Baytowne on Ice, and the Harbor Boat Parade. A Festive Christmas can be found at Destin.
Another popular spot for tourism is Orlando, located in the center of Florida, and home to many amusement parks. It features famous parks such as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and many more. If you’re looking for a thrill amidst all the chilly weather, go to Orlando.
The famous town of St. Augustine holds history in the palms of its hands. Many museums and tourist spots educate visitors about the city’s ancient stories along with Florida’s lengthy history, alongside the state itself. It features the historic Castillo de San Marcos and the Pirate Lamp Treasure Museum, a spot that’ll surely entertain everyone, regardless of age. The most grand destination in this town is the St. Augustine lighthouse. Many rumors exist about it, so people often tour it to challenge what has been said about it.
Subsequently, we have Naples, an Iconic Coastal City alongside Miami and Tampa. During wintertime in Naples, there are a myriad of activities to do, but notable ones are an Airboat tour in Everglades National Park, the Naples Pier, and the Naples Botanical Garden. And just like Destin is jam-packed with festivals, such as the Naples Boat Show and the annual Naples National Art Festival.
Finally, transitioning into the south-west territories of Florida, we have Sarasota, which is at the end of the Tampa Bay area. While visiting Sarasota, places to go include the Big Cat Habitat, a conservation and educational center for exotic animals, and the Ocean Conservatory, also known as the Mote Marine Laboratory. This city is beachy all year round, regardless of the temperature.
While Florida is thought to be summer-focused, it can also enjoy itself in the wintertime. Whether it is participating in festivals, feeling the wind on your skin during fun rides, or exploring new landmarks and museums, Florida has everything you could ask for this cold season.
