Girls Volleyball Season Begins

The John A. Ferguson Senior High school girl’s varsity volleyball team is building strong traction this fall, opening their 2026 season with so far, a 10–2 record.

The girls continue going through their different matches in the competitive non-district schedule. The Falcons have caught fire through September, stringing together impressive execution across the district. Highlighting dominant victories include dominant 3-0 sweeps over Miami Beach, Goleman, and Archbishop Carroll, alongside a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Terra Environmental.

The Ferguson girls’ volleyball team success stems from a balanced mix of veteran wisdom and rising underclassmen talent such as Elynn Guzman the senior outside hitter. She continues to serve as the engine of the Falcons offense. Guzman is consistently leading the team with her aggressive approach and average of 4.7 kills per set and setting the tone at the net.

Isabel De Vincenzo, an outside hitter is a junior but is a defensive powerhouse and server, DeVincenzo leads the team in digs per set and serving aces, whilst being selected player of the month in September. Jimena Llarena has appeared as a major presence in the front row, anchoring the defense with team-high total block stats while boasting top tier hitting accuracy. These girls prepped and worked hard for the GMAC quarter finals against Coral Reef on Saturday, September 26th. That game makes the teams 13th match of the season. Luckily, our Falcons struck through and have now advanced to the semifinals.
