PrimeTime: A Loose Retelling
A new movie that many students at Ferguson have been looking forward to has finally released September 25, 2026, titled Primetime, directed by Lance Oppenheim. Primetime is based on a real reality television show called ”To Catch A Predator” (2004-2007) this movie mostly dramatizes the production of the show. Robert Pattinson plays the host Chris Hansen. Chris Hansen is an NBC journalist and works in a group specialized in catching predators.
What this movie talks about are the reality of the show and how crazy and chaotic it was behind the scenes, it explains how harsh and stressful the production team were. The story also focuses on how much pressure it had on everyone to attract a bigger audience. Pattinson’s goal was to expose people who are suspected of being a predator by going through an undercover operation. This started off as a reality show but quickly became an important investigation and detectives and police officers were involved. Chris Hansen, realizes that catching predators by hiding cameras and exposing them to a wide audience is a way better and harsher punishment. The production team would install fake cameras all around the room and organize a fake meeting which they will then catch the suspects. The more predators he would catch, the more viewers he would get. Due to all the attention the show was getting Chris and his production team know they have created the most controversial reality tv show of all time. Behind the scenes was not all fun and games, everyone working on the show faced intense pressure because of all the risks they were taking.
The real Chris Hanson watched the movie, and he stated that he does not get the point of the movie. He even thinks the acting was too ”dramatic” and not accurate to the actual show. Chris Hanson also claims that the movie made him look like the bad guy and that what he was doing was actually wrong, the producers of Primetime didn’t actually get Chris Hansen’s permission or asked him to help with the movie which could be the reason why he didn’t quite enjoy this movie. So far Primetime is doing very good with ratings receiving 86 rotten tomatoes and money wise they have earned $34,390,761 worldwide which is insane.
Students at Ferguson also have a lot to say about this movie, Melissa Paz said “I went with my friends and we all really enjoyed watching it”, Another student Sophia Leon says ”I went last week to watch not knowing what to expect but i really did end up liking it.”
