School is Back in Session!

“My summer was fun! One of the best summers of my life because I spent it with my friends and visited Naples,” said Georgina Rodriguez, senior. The summer season has passed and students are back to school. With the start of a new school year, many falcons are reflecting on their summers and the approaching school events to come.

Starting school is different for everyone. Underclassmen and upperclassmen approach the school semesters in various ways.

Freshmen begin high school and face different situations. Not only how to navigate through the school and a hectic first day, but new teachers and friends. “It felt exciting and a bit dreadful due to new teachers, not many students I knew, and the stress to find out where was which classroom,” said Arelene Hernandez, a new freshman to Ferguson. “I look forward to building relations with some of my peers as well as my teachers. Also, entering some clubs I am interested in.”

Some upperclassmen appeared with a melancholic aura on their first days, wishing to go back to summer. However, the majority of them are looking forward to having fun and are eager for all of the school events this year. “ I’m so sad we’re in school again! I didn’t want summer to end,” continues senior Georgina Rodriguez. “I look forward to being done with school and finally graduating. I want to do better in school but also have a good time while I’m doing that. The thing I look forward to the most, however, is prom!”

The majority of falcons have many goals in mind this year. Some want to improve in academics. Others want to focus on clubs and events. Our falcons have set their ambitions and intentions since day one. With many things to do this current school year, a couple of falcons share their perspectives on their upcoming goals to accomplish.

“I made awesome memories at Tampa with some friends this summer but now that the school has started, my biggest goal for the next couple of months is to pass my SATs, ” said Gabriela Lopez, a junior. “Also, I want to show my school spirit at school events such as the pep rally this Friday. Along the way, I want to make more memories to come, which includes our school activities.”

“The main goal I have this year is to get the best grades I can get, at the minimum A’s and a couple of B’s,” continues Arlene Hernandez. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming Club Rush and, of course, the Homecoming Dance.”

Students establish the fact that school not only impacts their academics but their extracurriculars and social life. The new coming year is a new opportunity for all students here at John A. Ferguson to make connections around the school through their classes and the friends they make. The current school year has just started but there are many events planned ahead for our students here at Ferguson, where “No goal’s too high where falcons fly”.
