A Spooky Night at Ferguson

On October 24th, from 5 to 8 p.m., our school transformed into a full-on Halloween wonderland for our annual Fright Night. It was one of those nights where the entire building buzzed with excitement. Neighborhood kids of all ages poured in, dressed in everything from classic vampires to astronauts and superheroes, darting around with their candy bags and beaming smiles. Inside, students and teachers set up a variety of fun activities, interactive games, and plenty of spooky surprises. The hallways glowed with orange and purple lights, jack-o’-lanterns lit the way, and the air was thick with the scent of popcorn, sugary treats, and just a little bit of fake fog-machine smoke wafting through the corridors.

The best part was how everyone got involved. Different clubs had creative stands where they handed out candy and invited everyone to check out their activities. The science club held cool experiments, such as bubbling, smoking potions, and hands-on slime-making. The social studies club even created a trivia game with Halloween facts, handing out prizes for the most knowledgeable guests.

One of the highlights was the vet program, which brought out a mini petting zoo in the courtyard. Kids, and even some high schoolers, laughed and petted goats, watched the curious roosters strut around, and giggled at the antics of a playful, silly little ferret.

Midway through the night, music began to fill the halls, prompting everyone to gather around for the dance team’s spine-tingling performance. Their routine was a spooky and energetic mix of classic Halloween moves and fresh choreography, making the crowd cheer and plenty of people whip out their phones to record the memorable moment.

Meanwhile, throughout the evening, the haunted hallway drew brave guests. This dark, narrow corridor was transformed with fake cobwebs dangling from the ceiling, strobe lights casting eerie shadows, and random students popping out from behind doors to give visitors a harmless scare. People screamed, then burst out laughing before rushing to rejoin the line for another turn.

A cozy but spooky story corner, set up by the drama club, was another favorite. They told eerie tales, and in a fun twist, chose kids from the crowd to help act out parts of each story. Laughter filled the room as everyone watched the impromptu performances, each tale ending with a handful of candy as a sweet reward.

By the time 8 p.m. arrived, everyone was tired but content. Candy bags were stuffed to the brim, makeup and face paint were delightfully smudged from all the fun, and happy chatter filled the air as families made their way home. It was one of those joyful events that reminded everyone, students, teachers, and parents alike, how wonderful it is when the school community joins together to celebrate.
